Let's face it. The world isn't the safest place.

And depending on the situation, not everyone wants to be providing their own, round-the-clock security.

There are a number of situations where people cannot legally carry a firearm or a defensive weapon legally.  Travelling to another state on for business is a popular example where this situation arises.  Sometimes the way that people are dressed prevents them from concealing a firearm.  And in other cases, people just want their security to be handled by the pros.

There is something to be said about leaving the task to the experts. If you want something done right, hire an expert in that profession. And that frees you up to do whatever you want to do. You just need to pay a reasonable fee for the courtesy.

You could make an enormous list of all the reasons to hire an executive protection service, whether it be for business or personal. There is a general reason that applies to almost everyone:

They accompany them everywhere they need to go on their trip. And they will escort them anywhere the diamond broker wants them to go until they have completed their business.  In this particular case, the executive protection detail occurs over the course of one business day.  Some executive protection service details last for just a few hours.  However, executive protection details can be for extended periods, like days or even weeks.

You might be asking why someone would just not just carry a defensive weapon to protect themselves.  One of the reasons is that many states do not allow someone to legally carry a concealed firearm or defensive weapon.  It is not always reasonable, practical or even possible to acquire those licenses and/or permits in a short period of time. In some cases, it's nearly impossible.

As a result, an executive protection detail makes a lot of sense. As a client, "I have something very valuable. I want to make sure I get from point A to point B. I'm hiring somebody to make sure that everything goes smoothly.  Period."  In those cases, we make it happen.

Another situation might occur when you are required to do business in another state. You cannot legally carry a firearm or another defensive weapon legally in the state that you're going to be doing business. Let's use Illinois as an example. Illinois does not recognize or honor concealed carry permits from any other state in the union. However, you have to conduct business in Chicago.  In that case, you are literally flying into a city with the highest murder rate of any city on the planet Earth. And, you are defenseless.  And, if your boss can't make certain you are going to be safe, your wife won't let you go.  And, you're looking at finding a new job.  There is a solution.

The answer is no. The police are not there to provide security to you. That is your responsibility.

The police are there to enforce the law. If they do not have probable cause that someone has  committed a crime, is committing a crime, or is going to commit a crime against you, the police can do nothing.

In addition, the Supreme Court of the United States upheld that the duty of a police officer is not to protect an individual citizen.  They are not there to provide security for you or any other individual other than themselves. That's just the way it works.
